Frequently Asked Questions

Common Alarm System Questions

A beeping alarm panel usually indicates a trouble condition, not a break-in. Common causes include a low battery in a sensor or the panel backup battery, a lost connection to the monitoring station, or an open zone such as a door or window left ajar. Check the panel display for a trouble indicator or zone number. If you are unsure what the alert means, call A-Bell Alarms at (951) 302-3100 and we will walk you through it or schedule a service call.

When your alarm is triggered, the signal is sent immediately to the Alarm Watch central monitoring station, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The monitoring operator will attempt to reach you at your listed contact numbers. If they cannot verify that it is a false alarm, they will dispatch the appropriate emergency responders — police for an intrusion, fire department for a smoke or heat detector activation, or EMS for a medical or panic alert. You will also receive a notification through the Total Connect app on your phone.

Yes. Every alarm system A-Bell installs includes a backup battery in the panel that keeps the system running during a power outage. The backup battery is designed to maintain your system for several hours. If your system uses cellular communication (which most ProSeries systems do), it will continue reporting to the central monitoring station even without power or internet. If the backup battery runs low, the panel will alert you with a trouble beep and the monitoring station will be notified.

If you have the Total Connect app, you can add, change, or delete user codes directly from the app or through the ProSeries panel. If you need help, call A-Bell Alarms at (951) 302-3100 and we can walk you through it over the phone.

For business clients who are not set up on the Total Connect app, call our office at (951) 302-3100 and we will handle adding or removing user codes for you.

For security reasons, every person who accesses your system should have their own individual user code — never share a single code among multiple people. Individual codes let you track who armed or disarmed the system and when. If an employee leaves your company, call us right away to have their code deleted. An active code on a former employee's account is an open door to your business.

You can schedule a service call by submitting the service request form on this page, calling (951) 302-3100, or emailing service@abellalarms.net. Chris Sizemore personally handles every service call, so scheduling depends on his availability. We serve Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar, and surrounding Southwest Riverside County communities. For after-hours alarm emergencies, call the 24-hour central monitoring station at 1-800-927-6623.

A communication failure means your panel has lost its connection to the central monitoring station. This can happen after an internet outage, a router change, or a cellular network interruption. Try restarting your internet router first. If the message does not clear within a few minutes, call A-Bell Alarms at (951) 302-3100 so we can check your system's communication path and restore the connection. Do not leave a communication failure unresolved — your system cannot report alarms to the monitoring station while it is disconnected.

Before testing your alarm, call the Alarm Watch central monitoring station at 1-800-927-6623 to place your account on test mode. This prevents a dispatch while you are testing. Once your account is on test, you can trigger sensors and verify that the panel responds correctly. After testing, call the monitoring station again to take your account off test mode. If you would like a professional system test, call A-Bell Alarms at (951) 302-3100 to schedule one.
